August 31, 2010 - On
August 30th, 1875, on a portion of Argentine land located on the
Negrette ranch, in Ranchos, a district in Buenos Aires (General
Belgrano), the first polo match played in Argentina took place,
according to The Standard article, printed three days later, on
September 2nd.
According to several articles, and those who participated in the
first game, it is worth mentioning that before said event, there
existed polo entourages within Buenos Aires and surrounding the
area, but these were all mere attempts, as there is no clear or
accurate remembrance.

Lucas Monteverde scored five goals to secure Talandracas a 9-5 win
over Polo de Deauville and the Coupe d'Or title, in the final of the
most important tournament of the Lucien Barriere Polo Cup, the international
polo season, at Le Club de Polo de Deauville.
Talandracas' Guillermo Terrera was named MVP.
Coupe de Bronze
In the final of the Coupe de Bronze, played today, Hecla beat Mungo
9-8, in extra chukker, with a golden goal by Edouard Pan, who scored
after a great pass from Ernesto Trotz Jr.

September 1, 2010 - Absolute record. A new title for Adolfo Cambiaso, who won eight consecutive tournament thoroughout the year. Lucchese beat ERG 10-8 and claimed the Pacific Coast Open, the closing competition of the high goal season at Santa
Barbara Polo & Racquet Club.
Therefore, Lucchese took the Triple Crown in California. For Cambiaso, it's his second straight Triple Crown in the United States, after he won with Palm Beach, with Crab Orchard.
Lucchese's Jason Crowder was named MVP, and Adolfo Cambiaso's Dolfina Noruega, took BPP honors.

Pieres led Ellerston to Gold Cup win
August 28, 2010 -
Facundo Pieres converted a penalty in extra chukker to give Ellerston
a 11-10 win over Lechuza Caracas, in the final of the high goal Gold
Cup, the culminating tournament of the XXXIX International Polo Tournament,
in the final held at Santa María Polo Club, in Sotogrande.
Facundo Pieres was named MVP. Besides, it was the second straight
Gold Cup title for the young Santiago Stirling, who had already won
last year, with Facundo's and Nicolás' brother, Gonzalo Jr.,
in Dos Lunas Polo Team.
Medium goal and low goal finals on Sunday
August 29, 2010 - The XXXIX International Polo Tournament,
in Sotogrande, has just come to an end today, with the medium goal
and low goal finals. I Lovka took the medium goal Gold Cup, with a
8-7 win over Ayala Esperanza, while El Fortin is the low goal champion,
after defeating Sotovila Indios Charrua 11-10.

The Jockey Club Open is coming up
August 27, 2010 -The upcoming
Argentine season is already on the way to the Triple Crown, that
culminates with the most awaited polo competition, the Argentine
Open, in Palermo.
As every year, the Jockey Club Open is the preview of the three
most important tournaments in the world. Nine teams up to 36 goals
will be taking part of the competition, that will start on Tuesday,
September 7.
Final is due on Saturday September 18.

edition of the Argentine night, by INPROTUR

As it happened in Dubai, UK and St. Tropez, the Instituto de Promoción
Turística de la República Argentina (INPROTUR) hosted
the already traditional Argentine Night, in its fourth edition, this
time at Santa María Polo Club, in Sotogrande, as a part of
the club's international polo season.
The event was attended by more than 100 special guests, among them
patrons, players and club authorities. As usual in every INPROTUR
event, organized specially to spread the Argentine culture, goods
as well as the country's wonders, and guests enjoyed a cocktail, as
well as the worldwide famous Argentine asado and wines, and a spectacular
tango show.

The Maifeld Polo Cup is being held in Berlin, Germany, since August
20, and will finish on August 29. The competition showcases eight
teams up to 12 goals, with some worldwide renowned players.
Nothing strange, though, as it is a polo tournament in Berlin. But
it is not the usual event, because the finals, due on August 28 and
29 will be played in a historical ground: the Maifeld Stadion, the
same where polo games were held in 1936, during the IX Olympic Games,
in Berlin.

Heguy scored the winning goal in over time, to give Bank Brothers
Strudza a 9-8 victory over Hublot, to capture the Hublot Polo Gold
Cup, in the final played at Gstaad Polo Club.
Juan Pablo Jauretche was named MVP Pro, while the MVP Amateur Award
went to Gualtiero Giori. 11-years-old Chachacha took BPP honors.

Julius Baer claim snow polo title in Chapelco
August 22, 2010 - Julius Baer
took a 3-2 win over Nissan to win the II Argentina Snow Polo Cup,
in the final played in Cerro Chapelco Ski Resort, located in San
Martín de los Andes, in the Patagonia Argentina.
Meanwhile, Provincia de Buenos Aires obtained the Subsidiary Trophy,
after defeating Jaeger-LeCoultre 4-2.
Nissan's Santiago Garrahan was awarded with the Jaeger-LeCoultre
Award as MVP Amateur, while Fafá, played by Javier Herrera,
took the Julius Baer BPP Award. The Valentin Caset Award to the
top scorer, was shared by Martin Garrahan and Santiago Tanoira,
with seven goals apiece.
The competition gives points for the World
Polo Tour, in the category Snow Polo, the only snow polo event
that's played outside the circuit in Europe.

August 13, 2010 - The Club de Polo
de Deauville hosted a Brazilian party, that showcased the
worldwide famous scolas do samba, who took a bit of th the
wonderful Rio Carnaval to Deauville.
Attending the event were hundred of VIP guests, led by Philippe
de Nicolay, who enjoyed a spectacular and funny party.

balanced final match, Jaeger-LeCoultre beat Sa Talaia 9-8, in extra
chukker, with a golden goal by Horacio Laprida Jr., and claimed
the1st. Ibiza Beach Polo Cup-Copa Fiesta Hotel Group, played at
the paradise island on the Mediterranean Sea.
Meanwhile, Pachá beat Scapa 6-5 and took the Copa Jaeger-LeCoultre
(third place) and Ghantoot scored a 8-4 win over Madrigal to lift
the Copa Isla de Ibiza (fifth place).

Black Watch won the benefit match in New York
August 1, 2010 - Black
Watch beat Deutsche Bank 4-3 and won the Argentine Bicentennial
Match. The result is just history, as it was game to benefit Cruzada
Argentina and Help Argentina, organized by PoloLine and the New
York Chapter of Help Argentina.
The match featured some of the world's most outstanding players
and had Nacho Figueras as Honorary Host and Team Captain. Guests

25 , 2010 - With more than 19,000 people in attendance,
England defeated New Zealand 9-7 and won the Coronation Cup, on
the Queen's Ground, at Guards Polo Club. The match had a thrilling
last chukka, in which New Zealand battled back a three goal difference
to tie 7-all, and was finally decided in favour of England, with
goals by Luke Tomlinson and James Beim.
The Awards Ceremony was presided by HRH Prince Charles. James Beim
was named MVP and John Paul Clarkin's Gumboot took BPP honors. Clarkin
was also presented with the Gabriel Donoso Award.
Previously, in the mornig, in the match for the Golden Jubilee Trophy,
Hurlingham took a 7-6 win over Prince of Wales.

July 25, 2010 - In the Wings
defeated Tres Marías 10-8 and won the Open de Gassin, after
the final held at St. Tropez Polo Club, in the Cote d'Azur, in the
south of France.
Meanwhile, Wasabi took a 11-8 win over Chateau d'Aulnes/La Hormiga,
and claimed the third place; Easy Polo Team beat Antelope and took
the fifth place, and Villa a Sesta obtained the seventh place, with
a round robin win over La Locura and St. Tropez/Sezz.
