Sunday wins for UAE and Bin Drai

UAE Polo and Bin Drai won their respective games on the second day of the McLaren Silver Cup at Al Habtoor Polo & Resort, in Dubai.

In the first match of the day, UAE defeated Desert Palm by a convincing 11-6. UAE's new lineup worked well; they took an early lead, and remained on top throughout the whole match while extending their advantage chukker after chukker, thanks to superb team play led by Jack Hyde. The British player was the top scorer, with four goals.

Score UAE Polo: 3-1, 5-2, 7-4, 9-4, 11-6.

UAE: Jack Hyde 4, Juan Gris Zavaleta and Guillermo Terrera, 3 apiece.
Desert Palm: Santiago Laborde 3, Martin Valent 2, Alejo Taranco 1.

Up next, title holders Zedan lost to Bin Drai 12-6. After a very close first chukker, Bin Drai managed to take control of the game in the second. Despite Zedan's pressure, Bin Drai, with Tariq Al Habtoor filling in for Saeed Bin Drai, managed to hold them back while extending their lead. By the end of the day, Bin Drai secured a very important opening win. Fran Elizalde was the top scorer (six goals) and the MVP.

Score Bin Drai: 2-1, 5-2, 7-4, 9-5, 12-6.

Bin Drai: Fran Elizalde 6, Raúl Laplacette 4, Gregorio Gelosi 2.
Zedan: Pablo MacDonough 6.

The McLaren Cup will continue next Tuesday with two games: 
-Habtoor Wolves vs. Desert Palm, at 2pm 
-Followed by: UAE Polo vs. Habtoor Polo.
