Joe Barry Cup Final
La Indiana and Mt Brilliant, ready for the battle
January 22, 2017
The second tournament of the 20-Goal season at the International Polo Club will come to an end on Sunday 3pm when La Indiana face Mt Brilliant in the Joe Barry Cup final. They have been the most solid teams so far, and also the 2 teams that have played all the stages in the tournament since they both played semifinals and mini-quarters. They already played each other in the group stage, with a 14-10 win to Mt Brilliant.
Mt Brilliant reached the final only having lost their opening match in the tournament (11-19 vs Tonkawa) and winning the following 4 (14-10 vs La Indiana, 12-7 vs Villa del Lago, 12-9 vs Postage Stamp and 11-10 against Grand Champions). It’s a very even team in the field, with a very solid attack and they feature the top scorer of the competition, Jason Crowder (27).
If we talk about La Indiana, we could say that it’s an organisation that goes beyond their players, since they reached a final for a sixth time in a row since the 2016 Uk Season (Trippetts Challenge, Queen’s Cup, Gold Cup, Cote D’Azur Cup & Open du Soleil). All this with 3 different formations. La Indiana arrived to the Joe Barry Cup final after beating Tonkawa 10-6 in the semifinals, and after outplaying Goose Creek 12-10 at the mini-quarters. A very hard team, and with Gringo Colombres who replaced Ruki Baillieu and it’s in a great shape.
The order of play for Sunday’s final matchday at IPC will be as follows:
12pm: Bobby Barry Cup Final: Coca-Cola vs. Horseware/Tackeria
3pm, Joe Barry Cup Final: La Indiana vs. Mt. Brilliant
