On winning the US Open and the American Triple Crown: "Honestly, Valiente organisation deserves it. We are extremely happy with the win. Everybody plays to win and it is a big effort to get here. There have been tense days, so to end up winning the US Open and the Triple Crown with a team that gives me so much, I only be thankful and celebrate.”

On the importance of winning the Triple Crown: "Luckily, I also won it with Crab Orchard in 2010 so this is my second Triple Crown title. This one is extra special because we started the organisation from zero. Bob and I have a nice association with the breeding and we had many horses playing this season, in fact one of our clones won the BPP in the US Open final, so it was great to celebrate that. I can tell you that I am very happy, this is a tournament was entirely dedicated to Sunny Hale.”

On his relationship with Diego Cavanagh: "Diego is my friend. He decided to come over to Cañuelas, he took a chance on my organization and a lot of other thing. I believe he deserved to come to the US and play alongside me. We played together in England and won the Gold Cup. The year after that he was injured and was not able to play at his best level. I am happy about his season, he deserves to have won, and he scored the golden goal as well. He won the match in the last throw-in, that was very important."

On Matias Torres Zavaleta's level of play: "I always set up teams thinking about who can play well with me and who I like as a player. I've been watching Matias for a while now, and when I knew he was a 6-goals in the US I didn't doubt calling him and playing with him and Diego. I'm pleased that he was chosen as MVP, he deserves it."

On Chocolate's comeback to US polo: "Chocolate belongs to Valiente. The organisation has been very generous, as Bob lent Chocolate to me so I could play him over four of five years in Argentina. It was time for him to come back; I have a large number of clones coming through, and as Chocolate belongs to Bob it was the perfect moment for him to comeback to the States and play a bit more. He is already 14 or 15 years old."

On the upcoming Copa de las Naciones: "I'm thinking that Jeta Castagnola must be more shy because he has not talked to me yet, but Bartolito has got in touch. It is going to be a fun day. I arrive on Thursday, so we only have time for a practice on Friday. Mia and Poroto play in Palermo on Thursday so I will be there with them. I will play with my nephews and against my friends: Mariano Alvarez, Pelon, Jejo. They are all part of La Dolfina. Everyone wants to win, but it will be a great day."

On the umpiring during the 2017 US season: "In every sport it is difficult, because in every sport the referees are questioned. I think they let us play a little bit more, and that helped. Personally, I think they have to keep on studying how to improve, because it can be close to dangerous sometimes. They have to learn to measure out those sort of things. I would rather play than not, but I always know that the limits of a good play go with good umpiring so it doesn't turn into a dangerous match."

On the clones: "Well, I won the Argentine Open final with six clones, and I played another one in the final here."

On his plans of playing with Poroto in Argentina: "I will of course play with Poroto, but everything in due time. I'm getting older and he is growing up. We will meet in the middle. I will accompany him in his polo career as far as I think he needs it, and I will not rush him at all. I want him to have fun, and I'm sure he will share part of his career with me.”
