Saturday was a day big of polo at Santa María Polo Club, with the finals of both the Medium and Low Goal Gold Cup taking place.

MEDIUM GOAL
Equus 13-11 Royal Salute
Golden Goose 9-8 Twenty/20

MVP: Alejandro Muzzio. Also MVP in the Copa de Plata (Silver Cup).
BPP: Negrita, played by Alejandro Muzzio.

Equus has been the best team of the season in the medium goal, and won both the Copa de Plata and the Copa de Oro. In today’s final, Peter Silling’s team beat Royal Salute 13-11 in a great polo game.

Both teams have played very well and the scoreboard was even during the six chukkas. It was in the last period when Equus - with a great performance by Alejandro Muzzio - scored three consecutive goals to claim the win. 

During the prize giving, the argentine ambassador to Spain, Ramón Puerta, gave a special gift to the chairman of the Santa Maria Polo Club, Pablo Mora-Figueroa.

La Indiana: Michael Bickford 1, Juan Gris Zavaleta 8, Tincho Merlos 8, Byron Watson 3. Total: 20.

Ayala Polo Team (beat Dubai in the semifinals) and La Indiana (defeated Lechuza on Friday) will play the final of the Copa de Oro at the Santa María Polo Club on Sunday. Ayala last won the Copa de Oro in 2007, while La Indiana is looking for its first Gold in Sotogrande. His Majesty Don Juan Carlos will be present at the final and will present the trophy to the winners, accompanied by her Royal Highness Infanta Elena.
